In honour of the International Day for Monuments and Sites on April 18th, CashEssentials ran a visual campaign during the week of 16-20 April. Three images were posted daily on our Facebook and Instagram pages presenting unique and noteworthy monuments and sites of cultural and historical value.
Each day had its own theme. Spectacular bridges made the headline on Monday, while on Tuesday the focus was on religious and spiritual sites. Wednesday and Thursday were characterized by political buildings and monuments of national importance; while today, Friday, marked the time for castles and historical palaces.
By looking at these images, you might learn that the world’s longest cable bridge is Russky Bridge in Vladivostok (1885.53 m) and that The Bahamas is home to one of the last remaining manual lighthouses in the world. You might also find it interesting to know that one of the highest Buddhist temples in the world is perched on a cliff at 3,120 m (10,240 ft) in Bhutan and that, apart from its official name of Paro Takstsang, it also goes by the name “Tiger’s nest”.
The selection of illustrations is testimony to how much can be learned by simply observing a banknoteA banknote (or ‘bill’ as it is often referred to in the US) is a type of negotiable promissory note, issued by a bank or other licensed authority, payable to the bearer on demand. More and digging deeper into the meaning of each image.
