Over USD$2 million were stolen in Taiwan from Wincor Nixdorf machines and the criminals are suspected of having infected other ATMs with malware. The first victim to announce the crime was First Bank, causing a number of other banks to react, suspending their cash withdrawal services. First Bank reassured its customers that no personal accounts or information was affected.

The suspects are believed to be three men of Russian origin. They were caught on CCTV cameras while withdrawing piles of cash and stuffing them in their backpacks.
