Now that the New York City Department of Finance has partnered with cash payment app PayNearMe, the unbanked, underbanked, tourists and those that prefer cash can now settle their dues with this payment method. Thanks the new partnership, parking tickets can be resolved 24/7 by simply downloading a QR code from the PayNearMe site, scanning it at the nearest 7-Eleven and paying the total in cash.

The city’s Department of Finance Commissioner Jacques Jiha explains this move as a means to make “it convenient for those who prefer to resolve their debt by paying cash”. It is also part of the Big Apple’s strategy to improve their customer service for drivers.

Thanks to PayNearMe, the city of New York will no longer have to manage and handle payments. But it’s a win-win situation as this new system offers drivers the freedom to choose when and where to pay their parking ticket without being dependent on government working hours.
