Highlights from this fortnight’s’ new Roundup:

🇦🇺 Australian consumers revolt against cashless businesses by giving them poor online reviews.

🇧🇬 Bulgaria, which expects to join the eurozone on 1 January 2026, will need 520 tonnes of euro banknotes, equivalent to 25 trucks, while the quantity of euro coins will reach 3,600 tons, or 181 trucks, said Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) Chief Cashier Stefan Tzvetkov.

🇮🇳 India: On May 19, 2023, the Reserve Bank of India announced the demonetisation of ₹2000 denomination banknotes. By 4 November 2024, 98.04% of the banknotes have been returned to the Reserve Bank.

🇵🇸 Palestinians in Gaza are being forced to pay to have tattered banknotes repaired, due to shortages of new notes.
