On 6 September 2017, CashEssentials, in collaboration with the photo contest platform Wipplay, launched the “Happy Cash, When Cash Connects People” as a means to illustrate the multiple facets of notes and coins around the world. The contest invites photographers to illustrate cashMoney in physical form such as banknotes and coins. More from all angles.
In six weeks, over 1,000 entries were submitted. The collection of pictures offers a unique journey in the world of cash and illustrates the numerous social, economic and artistic attributes of cash.

Paying is probably the most widespread theme with a number of pictures representing very diverse transaction situations: in stores, at markets, in cafés and restaurants, at street vendors or fish-mongers.

The artistic dimension of notes and coins has not been forgotten and many pictures highlight a feature of the notes or coins including several images of Che Guevara, the former President of the central bank of Cuba, as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of his death.
