Idea bank of Poland launched a fleet of cars fitted with ATMs in 2015. At the time, the bank had equipped four electric BMW i3s with cash-in, cash-out ATMs, which can be ordered by smartphone either on demand or by advanced booking. The service is particularly aimed at enterpreneurs and business owners who normally use cash deposit services, often after dark. It saves them the time and effort of making the extra journey, allowing them to focus on their business.

In 2016, the service was expanded to 18 units and now operates in 12 cities.  According to Finextra, the average deposit through the mobile ATM is three times higher than at a bank branch, with the total amount of monthly deposits exceeding €630,000.

Dominik Fajbusiewicz, Member of the Board of Idea Bank’s commented:

“Our research showed that one in three Polish micro-entrepreneurs accept only cash payments, and almost four out of five deliver income to their bank in person. By providing them with a convenient and secure way of depositing money, we have made their day-end business closing much easier. With the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) making up for 96% of all businesses operating in Poland, we want to help them fully unlock their potential by making the company’s day-to-day management as simple as possible.”

In India, YES Bank has partnered with an e-commerce platform enabling users to have cash delivered at their home, with their groceries.
