Today, the International CurrencyThe money used in a particular country at a particular time, like dollar, yen, euro, etc., consisting of banknotes and coins, that does not require endorsement as a medium of exchange. More Association unveiled a new online platform – Cash Matters – at the International Currency Conference being held in Kuala Lumpur 15-17 May. CashMoney in physical form such as banknotes and coins. More Matters is a global initiative designed to support campaigns in favour of cash. While the website is structured in such a way as to present facts and figures on cash and its use, the initiative will also be active on social media to inform a broad public about cash and its important role in the payments landscape.
The initiative was introduced by a video, which was shown to the Currency Conference’s multicultural audience. Reactions were positive and there is a general agreement that the time is right to proceed with such as movement.
“The design is fresh and young, and Cash Matters is set up to work perfectly on all platforms and devices. We do expect lively debates on our channels […] and aim to reach far beyond the industry and experts to involve every global citizen and initiative who think that cash is here to stay”, said Chairs of the ICA Global Cash Alliance Committee, Andrea Nitsche and Gerben van Wijk, who are responsible for Cash Matters.
Cash Matters and CashEssentials are driven by the same goal: to give cash a voice in an increasingly noisy payments ecosystem.
