This week, at the BanknoteA banknote (or ‘bill’ as it is often referred to in the US) is a type of negotiable promissory note, issued by a bank or other licensed authority, payable to the bearer on demand. More Conference in Washington D.C., Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) presented a new family of security features that focuses on intuitive perception. By combining micromirror and ColourShift technology, the German security printer was able to develop new easy-to-use optically variable effects. In fact, G&D Management Board, Ralf Wintergerst, argues that “we need cashMoney in physical form such as banknotes and coins. More just as much as we need digital or mobile payment methods […] Innovation and technological advances are the key to guaranteeing this security.”
