The UK’s new £5 polymer note has become the new mascot for charity donations. Triggered by fundraiser John Thompson, social media platforms across the UK are buzzing with talks of charity and which ones their first new Fiver will be donated to. 

Accompanied with the hashtags #givefive and #firstfiver, photos of the machine-washable pound sterling are populating the net.

“Sometimes a simple idea shared at the right time can make a world of difference” says Ceri Edwards, Director of Policy at the Institute of Fundraising. And a simple Fiver can awaken our generosity, because when you hand it over, the smile of gratitude is priceless.
